Microsoft has announced that from the 14th January 2020, Windows 7 will be at the end of it’s life.
This doesn’t mean Windows 7 will stop working on this date, it means it will stop being supported. So, what does that really mean?
It means that Microsoft will stop releasing patches or updates. That in itself doesn’t sound so scary, but what’s important to understand is that if you have a computer that are connected to the internet, you will have increased vulnerability. Your computer will be open to security hacks and viruses.
So, what’s the answer?
The answer is to upgrade to Windows 10. There are a few things to consider before you book in for an upgrade. They are:
- Do you have any applications that might not run on Windows 10?
- Have you thought about a coordinated approach for your entire team to minimise disruption to work?
It is our experience, that software upgrades always run more smoothly when they are planned in advance and carried out in a coordinated manner.
