What’s new in Microsoft 365?

From supporting projects with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint to offering safeguards for daily processes, M365 (Microsoft Office 365 or Microsoft 365) subscriptions have provided organisations with access to various solutions to facilitate seamless collaboration in the workplace. And like with all technologies, M365 is updated to accommodate users’ changing needs.

A few of these updates are below:

Enhancements for cloud storage

M365 now contains an upgraded storage capacity that allows users to include data from OneDrive and Outlook’s web-based email client – Outlook.com. While this has the potential to reinvigorate the workflows of your team members, it does require you to potentially sacrifice available space in OneDrive.

File accessibility upgrade

Being able to access company information quickly and easily is a must for business owners and employees today. Luckily, OneDrive is getting an overhaul, making shared content more accessible for users.

The upgrade allows users to view all shared files in a single space. This means that you will be able to view and track the whereabouts of your business’s files for greater security and management.

Multi-factor authentication (MFA) has been modified

M365’s MFA solution now uses number matching to reduce the likelihood of users succumbing to MFA fatigue cyber-attacks. The update can be found in Microsoft Authenticator – the security tool that helps keep Microsoft 365 apps and data inaccessible to cybercriminals.

When you leverage this security feature in Authenticator, Microsoft will send you a number that you have to insert into the prompt, thereby allowing you to authorise your login request and access your data. For businesses whose staff regularly engage in hybrid or remote work, this feature will be a significant asset.
