We’ve been busy scheduling in server upgrade solutions for our clients in preparation for the end of life of SBS2011 Small Business Server 2011 on the 14th January 2020.
Microsoft announced they will no longer support SBS2011 Small Business Server 2011 with updates and patches, meaning anyone left running the software will be more vulnerable to security hacks and viruses.
There is quite a bit to consider as the software is essentially a bundle. Although a client might not be using all parts of the bundle, some elements may be providing a weakness in the security of the organisation post 14/01/2020.
Some of the software within the bundle, that needs consideration includes:
- Exchange
- Sharepoint
- SQL
Some clients have elected to replace their server and new hardware, however most have elected to migrate to Office 365. The benefits of Office 365 are proving to be amazing. There is a settling in period, as there is for all new software – for staff to learn how to use the new environment but once fully transitioned, we are having positive feedback from clients on Microsoft 365.
If you are still running SBS2011 Small Business Server 2011, have you got a plan for your business?
